Behind Sugar Locks
Hi, I’m Jennifer Cantu, the owner and maker behind Sugar Locks!
I live in Joliet, Illinois, with my husband of 25 years, Greg. We have three grown children who keep us busy and incredibly proud. Our son, Reed, is 23 and owns Rehab Addicts, a home remodeling company. Our daughter Gwendelyn, 21, is a Division I gymnast at Eastern Michigan University, and our youngest daughter, Olivia, 19, attends Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame and dances with the Notre Dame Dance Company. Our beloved black Lab recently passed away, and she will always hold a very special place in our family’s hearts.
Sugar Locks began in 2005, shortly after Gwendelyn was born. What started as a small hair bow business—where the name Sugar Locks came from—quickly grew alongside my love of creating. I added embroidery and vinyl cutting, and over the years, Sugar Locks continued to evolve.
Today, my workshop includes two commercial embroidery machines, a sublimation printer, two UV printers, a direct-to-garment printer, four different lasers and even a 3D printer. Having so many creative tools allows me to offer a wide variety of personalized gifts, apparel and keepsakes while making each order special for the person receiving it.
When I’m not creating or traveling to visit the kids, you can usually find me watching Formula 1, heading to Club Pilates, spending time at Lake Wawasee or traveling with Greg.
What I love most about Sugar Locks is being trusted to create pieces that celebrate life’s meaningful moments—from new babies and weddings to graduations, holidays and treasured memories. Every order has a story behind it, and I’m truly grateful that my customers allow Sugar Locks to be a small part of those stories.
Thank you for supporting my small business and the family behind it!
— Jennifer
